Each year the Oskar-Patzelt Foundation uses the Grand Prix of Small and Medium Business to recognize outstanding companies from industry, commerce, trades and business. This year six winners and finalists came from Rheinland-Palatinate.
“The Grand Prix of Small and Medium Business recognizes the enormous significance of German small and medium size companies for our country’s economy,” said IHK Vice-President Uwe Laue at the opening. “You, honored prize winners, are the strong foundation of our economic capability. Through this distinction your outstanding corporate contributions have been made visible.” Juror Ewald A. Hoppen also praised this category: “Small and medium size companies are the locus of innovation, commitment and willingness to take risks, where thinking runs deep and action is taken quickly.”
Recognized from Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland for 2017:
- Heuft Unternehmensgruppe, Bell/Eifel
- Premosys GmbH, Kalenborn-Scheuern
- Reinhard Koll GmbH, Niederzissen
Companies are not permitted to nominate themselves. Five criteria are taken into consideration by the jury: the overall performance of the company, the creation and securing of jobs and training positions, modernization and innovation, involvement in the region, and service and marketing.
In 2017 a total of 4923 companies as well as communes and banks friendly to small and medium size businesses were nominated, over 600 of them from Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. The Oskar-Patzelt Foundation, which was established in 1998, has made it their goal to recognize the achievements of small and medium size businesses and to promote networking among them.
